When it was launched in 1994, it was the most powerful and fastest production Audi ever built, and until the release of the Audi S6 Plus in April 1996, the most powerful vehicle in the Audi model range. Internally, the Avant RS2 was known and designated as the P1 (P for Porsche). Combined Audi and Porsche logo on the rear.
The Porsche lettering is also present on the emblem/logo, indicating the collaboration between the two automakers.
